What is Tera Term’s features?
Emulator Software: Tera Term is a software based terminal emulator program. It is a communication program and emulates many different computer terminals. It can emulate DEC VT100 to DEC VT382.
Communications Support: Tera Term can emulate many different computer systems and supports TELNET, SSH 1 & SSH 2. Furthermore, it can also emulate serial port connections.
Scripting Suuport: A user can create scripts intended for target computer terminals which can be tested on Tera Term prior to deployment. This helps a user in finding semantic errors and save the hardware from malicious code. Tera Term can also add useful plugins to itself.
New Features: Some new features in the latest version include SFMT information on version create scripts, indication of IP Version, showing the opacity value of the tooltip and window when it is dragged, location of resizing tooltip after resize operation is performed, slider for opacity values on the visual tab, etc. Support for REP control sequence, /OSC52= command line option, support for xterm ED 3 control sequence, and logging and logging menu has been added.

A Menu bar provides additional functionality and settings capability for a user. The Menu include File, Edit, Setup, Control, Window, and Help items. Each having its own drop-down menu. The GUI is a professional with white text on black background much like common Windows based terminal systems.
Setup: The setup menu has setup options for Terminal, Font, keyboard, Serial Port, Proxy, SSH, SSH Authentication, TCP/IP, general settings, and additional settings.

The software is a command line emulator for Windows based systems. It can emulate many different operating systems and computer systems. However, it is a software-based emulator and not a real-time command prompt terminal software.
